For over 40 years I have been walking alongside women and men, encouraging them on their journey of life. Sometimes it related to relationships, sometimes to parenting, often to growing in an understanding of the interplay between faith and life. Mentoring and guiding people has been a part of all l do, whether professionally or in any of my volunteer roles. I love helping people grow and make changes in their lives that result in greater health, sense of purpose and meaning.
One day I realized that although I was able to listen to others as they sorted life out, I really needed someone who could objectively help me. So many things going on, so many choices in my volunteer and work life left me stymied, not knowing which way to turn.
Just at the right time I was invited to a women’s conference! After attending a seminar on coaching by Jane Cresswell, I thought, “Oh my goodness, I think this is what I’m looking for!” She offered a complimentary one hour session and I took her up on it. I was astonished! While on the phone, she listened intently to what I was saying, asked penetrating, powerful questions and at the end of the hour I KNEW which way I needed to go with my decision! I was totally blown away! I experienced the power of excellent coaching.
Fast forward a few years! An opportunity to take a three month coaching course came my way and I jumped at the chance. This whet my appetite for more learning and to use this skill in coaching our staff in my organization. A few years later I made the leap, resigned my job, enrolled in Coach U and started my own coaching practice, LifePath Coaching Services.
It’s been a great journey. I love all that I am learning, connecting with others and being challenged to keep on growing as a person and coach. Now, to offer others a space for someone to walk alongside them, on whatever path they are on, is a joy. Listening, encouraging, asking questions, helping to bridge the gap between where a person is now and where they wish to be – to thrive in life – is such a privilege!
Who am I when I’m not coaching?
Glad you asked! I am married to Eric, my indescribable and wonderful husband. We have three daughters (two sons-in-law), one son (one daughter-in-law) and SEVEN GRANDSONS! That’s right – no granddaughters – and oh the fun we have when we are all together!
Eric and I enjoy walking, biking, cooking up new recipes and travelling together. We have walked on the Great Wall of China; slept in a gher in Mongolia which included a very interesting experience drinking milk tea. Eating delicious almond croissants in France; sipping marvelous Italian wine; enjoying fresh mangoes in Bangladesh and learning to eat Ethiopian food using injera (a spongy flatbread) are other delightful experiences. When I stop to think that we’ve been in twenty-three countries it is incredible – and each opportunity was a blessing and privilege.
Other relaxing, soul-refreshing activities include crocheting, reading, adult coloring and gardening. Our garden produces a variety of edibles including herbs, tomatoes, hot peppers and cilantro, all ingredients for a sassy salsa. A tantalizing cup of coffee with a friend often tops off my day.
That’s me, in a nutshell! Now, if you desire to move from surviving to thriving, contact me. I’d love to explore with you ways to achieve your goals and learn to thrive.
